EMD Consulting
AI implementers, not AI developers

AI is how a small team gets its people back.

We help small, agile building automation and mechanical companies put the AI tools they already own to work, from prebid through closeout and service.

The rut

It's wonderful. It's terrible. It's wonderful. It's terrible.

AI feels disruptive. The organization is hard to process. Nobody is sure what to focus on first. The cycle repeats, and the company never gets out of the rut. We pick one winnable battle, put boundaries around it, and finish it.

Even in the most desperate times there is still a solution. You cannot do everything at once. Pick one battle after another and keep moving forward.
How we work

Three steps. No surprises.

Assessment and alignment

Help leadership see what really matters and pick projects with immediate impact, for the company and especially for its employees. Then define the project and put boundaries around it so there is something to take hold of.

Implementation

Eric defines what the solution looks like technically and delivers it. The tools you already pay for, wired into the way your people actually work.

Ongoing coaching

A light retainer for running the business and leading people once the first project is in. Optional, and sized to what you need.

Team

A founder and a bridge.

Eric Diaz

Builds and repairs controls businesses.

More than 25 years in building automation, in technology and low voltage since 1996. Founded a building automation company from scratch and later walked into a struggling one to rebuild it. Where others see "it's rough, stay away," Eric sees a fire worth going into. He packages what he knows as skills that add capacity to a team.

Amanda Baker

Turns what leadership means into what the field does.

Finds the root of an issue, then works out how to deploy the fix across an organization with consistent output. Calm, clear, detailed, and fluent in the industry's own language, which lets her bridge executive leadership and the people who use the tools every day. Business analytics and financial visibility are her lane.

What we build with

The tools you already have, plus the ones that are missing.

We are not tied to one vendor. We pick the model and the platform that fit the job, then make them work inside the way your people already operate.

Agentic services

AI assistants that do real work: triage email, draft documents, chase submittals, prep a quote. Built on Anthropic, OpenAI, or whichever model performs best for that task.

Python automation

Scripts and small services that move data between systems, generate reports, and remove the copy-and-paste jobs nobody should still be doing by hand.

Quickbase backends

Operational databases for sales tracking, quoting, project and service workflows, built so the team can see the numbers without waiting on a spreadsheet.

Expanding what you own

Automation layered onto Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, your accounting system, and your building automation platforms. New capability, no rip and replace.

Along the way we publish a few connectors we use ourselves. One of them, OpenClaw Gmail, lets a personal AI assistant read, draft, and send email on the owner's behalf; its data handling is spelled out in our privacy policy.
